I (William Sheppard) am a 3rd year undergraduate student at De Montfort University, studying History with Mandarin. My predominant research focus is on the Chinese Diaspora in Britain and I have recently written a History dissertation entitled ‘Sichuan to Soho: Chinese Migrants and Kung Pao Chicken’.

The goal of this blog is threefold. First, I hope to improve my writing and editing skills through regular practice. Second, I aim to use these short pieces as a way to process and refine my own thoughts and understanding. Third, I write with the hope that someone who stumbles upon this blog might find something they enjoy or connect with in what I’ve shared.
