William Sheppard is a Masters student at University of Birmingham, studying History. My predominant research focus is on the Chinese Diaspora in Britain and I have recently written an undergraduate History dissertation entitled Sichuan to Soho: Chinese Migrants and Kung Pao Chicken. My MA dissertation will build upon this theme with the title Dispersed Diaspora: Tracing Transnational Ties Across Waves and Generations of Chinese Migrants in Britain.
The goal of this blog is threefold. First, I hope to improve my writing and editing skills through regular practice. Second, I aim to use these short pieces as a way to process and refine my own thoughts and understanding. Third, I write with the hope that someone who stumbles upon this blog might find something they enjoy reading.
